After the first illegal parties were increasingly disrupted by the police in 2009, Laurenz and the Märchenwald collective began organising demonstrations to advocate for the use of public spaces for non-commercial open-air events.
During his studies, he explored the legal grey areas surrounding these events, engaging more frequently with authorities, and, together with the Vcc, drafted guidelines and a petition for the Free Spaces project. Their successful pilot events marked the first step towards establishing legal, free, open-air events in Vienna.
In addition to Märchenwald, Laurenz is also the founder of the collectives Heimlich, Techno Sonntag, and the temporary club project Kosmos Kuriosum. Since 2017, he has worked independently as a stage designer and builder under the names Maraskia and Industrial Illusions.
